district officials say the fire was a prescribed burn. but later changed that to an accidental vegetation fire. however, this is the season for prescribed burns. the burns are allowed to control marsh debris and to control the area for wildlife. this year the period began on march 1st and runs through april 15th. the fires must be deemed necessary by the california department of fish and wildlife. >>> 7:0. in the southern u.s. hot, dry, windy conditions causing two wildfires to rapidly expand. in south carolina, look at this. investigators want to know what caused this fire. it damaged or destroyed more than two dozen buildings. it started saturday in the carolina forest. then it spread to a housing complex. luckily, no one was hurt. but more than 180 people either lost their homes or their pets in that fire. >>> and almost three dozen cabins were destroyed by fire in eastern tennessee. this one started in dolly parton 'home town. pigeon forge sunday afternoon. it burned property at her amusement park. but officials say the park will open next weekend as scheduled. >>> all right. it is 7:

was lost during yesterday morning's slide that the coastline here on would be island has now changed. it used to be straight and now it jets out about 40-50 feet. an immense amount of mud and rock and debris. only one home amazingly has been damaged so far. it was knocked clean off of its foundation. no injuries to report either. as i mentioned geologists will be coming out here to figure out if that land is still stable or unstable. there are reports from neighbors here over night who said they heard more slipping and more mud and debris falling down. it may be a few days before anyone is allowed back in their homes and even then it may be too risky. it is going to be a huge mess to clean up as well. all of that here just 26 hours after that hillside came crashing down. >> jeff, i understand microsoft billionaire steve has property up there. is that right? >> reporter: we haven't heard anything specific about that. some of these homes are vacation homes. a lot of them have been unoccupied. there haven't been any injuries. and a lot of people haven't gotten a lot of sleep because the
